17 - 20 July 2013
Three nights of sonic revelations at the unique, historic New Century Hall in NOMA, as James Murphy and 2manydjs built the greatest sound system in the world, fired it up and intoxicated packed houses with a glorious blend of music – all played on vinyl. Despacio was seven enormous speaker stacks, 576 black and white floor tiles, one giant glitter ball and 900 happy partygoers a night listening to what we can mathematically prove is the best amplified sound ever heard anywhere.
‘A club night dedicated to the maxim of good times and good music... experience the music how it is intended to be heard - every nuance and detail without compromise.’
Since the project's beginning at MIF13, Despacio has continued to tour, appearing at Glastonbury, Barcelona's Sonar Festival, and more.
Commissioned by Manchester International Festival and The Warehouse Project.
