FlexN Manchester

Director and choreographer Reggie ‘Regg Roc’ Gray

MIF Creative has invited Brooklyn-based Flex dance pioneer Reggie ‘Regg Roc’ Gray and a specially assembled team of Flex dancers to MIF15 for their first European performances.

In the run up to the Festival, the Flex team will make a series of trips to Manchester seeking out like-minded Manchester dancers and crews to work on a very special performance for MIF15. This unique transatlantic collaboration will reveal the best of street dance from Brooklyn and Manchester and support creative exchange between the Flexers and talented Manchester-based dancers.

Virtuosic and visually arresting, Flexing features an extraordinary range of styles - pausing, gliding, hat tricks, connecting, bone breaking and get low. FlexN began with a group of young dancers who appeared on a local cable TV show called FlexN Brooklyn, showcasing their skill and creativity to gain respect on the local streets, telling their stories through their own unique dance style.

These remarkable shows will build on their work with legendary director Peter Sellars at New York's Park Avenue Armory, originally commissioned by MIF/Armory Artistic Director Alex Poots, and Flexer Banks subsequent scene-stealing appearances at London’s ENO.

Please be aware that the music used in FlexN Manchester may contain some strong language.
