Marina Abramović Presents
‘an extraordinary collaboration. An exhausting but exhilarating afternoon’
Grandmother of performance art Marina Abramović brought a specially curated group of international artists specialising in long durational work to the Whitworth Art Gallery. The result was a life-altering four hours of live art. Kitted out in labcoats, the audience was taken through a communal drill by Abramović, before being left to wander the galleries and experience the performances over several hours.
This thrilling, provocative event brought visitors from around the world to see work ranging from Kira O’Reilly’s balletic, slow motion tumble down the gallery’s stairs to Ivan Civic’s daredevil display of athleticism and national identity.
Commissioned and produced by Manchester International Festival and the Whitworth Art Gallery.
