MIF Sacred Sounds Choir Pavilion Concert
Following on from MIF11’s Sacred Sites, the MIF Sacred Sounds Choir was formed for MIF13, commissioned by MIF Creative, bringing together women from faith communities across Greater Manchester.
The choir explored the music and vocal traditions of the major faiths and performed as part of our John Tavener event. Their uplifting afternoon concert at Festival Pavilion saw the MIF Scared Sounds Choir perform a broad repertoire of music and chant from the Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh faiths.
This was both a celebration of voices raised in worship and of the group’s development in to a 75 strong, unified choir.
MIF Sacred Sounds is commissioned by MIF Creative.
Produced by Manchester International Festival.
Supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, PRS for Music Foundation, Faith Network for Manchester and MIF Commissioning Circle.
Listen to our podcasts, featuring members of the choir being interviewed by Lopa Kothari and in rehearsal.
