In 1978, Vini Reilly’s Durutti Column were the first band signed by Tony Wilson to his fledgling Factory label. Three decades after Reilly’s first Factory releases and nearly two years after Wilson’s death, Manchester International Festival were proud to premiere A Paean to Wilson, Reilly’s very personal tribute to his former friend and mentor. Reilly was joined by longtime Durutti Columnists Bruce Mitchell, Poppy Morgan and Keir Stewart for these intimate concerts, a moving eulogy to the man who defined musical life in the city.
A very personal, emotional and often warmly funny tribute Dave Simpson – The Guardian
