The xx
In Residence

The xx © Alexandra Waespi

The xx’s debut album, xx, won the Mercury Music Prize. Coexist, the follow-up, topped the UK charts and reached the top ten in more than 20 countries around the world. Now one of the biggest alternative acts in the world, the enigmatic London trio is spending much of this year headlining major festivals and huge open-air venues. In Manchester, though, they’ll be playing in a much more intimate environment — exclusively in residence at MIF.

For the duration of the Festival, Jamie xx, Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim will be taking over a secret space in the centre of town. Across 18 performances in a specially designed, 60-capacity room, the group will be presenting their music in uniquely atmospheric surroundings, redefining their music and their relationship with their audience in the process.
