Fri 3 & Sat 4 July / Pavilion Theatre
The Festival is pleased to welcome Same Teens, who will be creating and presenting a pair of extra-special shows in the Pavilion Theatre. Solely for 15 to 19 year olds, the gigs will be headlined by Mystery Jets, with an array of support bands and DJ sets, including Tim Burgess and Televised Crimewave on Fri 3 and Esser on Sat 4 July. The whole event will be documented through XOX, Same Teens’ online fanzine, with the audience supplying reviews, photos and even interview questions for the bands.
Described by Clint Boon as perhaps the most important thing to happen on the Manchester music scene since the Sex Pistols hit the Free Trade Hall, Same Teens was founded by a group of Mancunian kids who were fed up with not being allowed into local gigs and so decided to promote their own. In the space of two years, they’ve worked with big names such as Foals and Black Kids, and their fanzine has won rave reviews from the likes of Tim Burgess and Erol Alkan.
