Monkey’s World arrives in London!

11 September 2008

The opera Monkey: Journey to the West is to have a four week run in London

Monkey: Journey to the West has had phenomenally successful runs in London, Paris, and the US following its premiere at the Manchester International Festival last year. Now the show will be moving in to its own purpose-built venue, Monkey’s World, in the Meridian Gardens, next to London’s O2 from 8 November- 5 December 2008.

The specially-built venue will host this kaleidoscope of incredible animation, spectacular visual effects, acrobatics and martial arts. Audiences are invited to immerse themselves in Monkey’s World from the minute they step inside. A bespoke theatre with interiors designed by the Monkey team, this brand new event space includes a bar, restaurant, foot massage parlour and a VIP after show area.

It’s been something of a Monkey summer, beginning with the show getting a sold-out run at London’s Royal Opera House in July. The BBC picked Monkey to be the face of its Olympic coverage throughout the games, and in August the album Journey to the West, based on the show’s score, debuted at #5.

Tickets for Monkey: Journey to the West are onsale now at £25-65, go to www.monkeyjourneytothewest.com for details.
